Outreach

Thank you to everyone who supported the John 3:16 Center’s “Socktober” drive to collect socks and underwear for the children who will participate in this year’s Christmas Outreach program. They say a picture is worth a thousand words and as you can see from the picture, LUMC was once again very generous!

Littleton United Methodist Church supports the LKG 911 Community Task Force by hosting First Aid / CPR classes and making a $300 donation to support the Task Force around Lake Gaston and the five surrounding counties.

End of School Book Giveaway at Littleton Academy: On June 7, 2023:

The group from LUMC set up four tables full of books for the students at Littleton Academy to
choose from for summer reading. Thank to everyone who contributed books or money to
support this program! Your generosity allowed each child at Littleton Academy to take home four or five books. You should have seen the smiles on some of their faces! The remaining books will be used by the teachers for their classroom libraries. This was a truly remarkable outreach to a local school and was appreciated by students and faculty alike.

School Supply Drive – Local children will return to school in August and once again LUMC is conducting a school supply drive to provide needed supplies to the students.  We will deliver supplies to the Haliwa Saponi Tribal School and to the John 3:16 Center.  The supplies for the Tribal School will support students in grades K – 12 at that school.  The supplies donated to the John 3:16 Center will be used by the Halifax, Warren, and Northampton County school districts as they deem the best way to address the needs of students in their districts (see Supply List).  We will also deliver a box of school supplies to Vaughan Elementary School.  The Haliwa Saponi Tribal School and John 3:16 Center provided school supply lists which are available on a table in the Chapel.  Please leave donated supplies on the altar area of the Chapel.  If you prefer to make a financial contribution, please write a check to LUMC and write “School Supplies” in the memo line.  Financial contributions will be used to support the John 3:16 Center’s school supply drive since this program supports the largest number of students.

July’s Game Night:

A great time was had by ALL! Dominoes, cornhole, and a wonderful baked potatoe bar for supper!

Jesus said “Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself.”

Reaching out to our neighbors, near and far, is an important part of our mission at Littleton United Methodist Church.

Some of our community outreach programs are listed below:

  • Children’s Breakfast with Santa
  • Special Musical Events
  • Vacation Bible School
  • Community Thanksgiving Service
  • Book Drives for area schools

Along with other area churches, our church also supports the following organizations:

Community Vacation Bible School:

This year’s community VBS was hosted at Lakeside Lutheran Church from June 19-23:
The memory verse for the week was Romans 14:19, “So let’s aim to do the things that bring peace and the things that build each other up.” The theme
The theme focused on how each of us can be a “Hero” and the children learned how ordinary people can do great things, bring peace, and support each other. They also got an opportunity to meet some local heroes, blare the siren on a highway patrol car, and sit in the driver’s seat of a fire engine. Thanks to Pastor Tracy and the United Women in Faith for
supporting VBS.
